TheSky, Celestial Pole's

Skysensor Setup   Pointing Accuracy  Polar Alignment   TheSky Alignment Stars  TheSky CP  LX200 Commands  201XT to SS2K

I find this one useful in my Polar alignments,  This SDB places an + at the NCP/SCP that you can use as a reference for Polar Alignments.
Turning on the Equatorial Grid will show a View similar to the view through many Polar Alignment Scopes.  With this you then can
have a better understanding of what your looking at when doing your polar Alignments.  I also found this useful in setting up my Bore Scope
on my CG5 mount.

You can download the Sky SDB file Here.

Installation:
First copy the Celestial Pole.txt to your C:\Program Files\Software Bisque\TheSky\User\SDBs directory
or to were your \User\SDBs Directory is located.

Preparing the Celestial Pole.txt file
This file is interesting because you have to edit the file. before use.  Go to your \User\SDBs Directory and double click on the Celestial Pole.txt file. it will look like this

;Copyright (c) 1996 TheSky
>CATALOG CLASS=OBJECTS
>AZMDEGREES 20,25
>AZMMINUTES 26,31
>AZMSECONDS 32,37
>ALTSIGN 38,43
>ALTGEGREES 44,50
>ALTMINUTES 51,57
>ALTSECONDS 58,66
>MAGNITUDE 67,72
>ALIAS 11,19
>LABEL 73,93
>LOADMEMORY
>IDENTIFIER Celestial Pole's
>OBJECT TYPE 60
;Leave the AZM at 0 deg, replace ALT with your latitude DEG,MIN,SEC
;Entry Alias AZM ALT MAG LABEL

1 NCP 0   0 0 + 32 40 39.0 9 North Pole  <<  Change the 32 40 39.0 to your Latitude NP Only
2 SCP 180 0 0 + 33 52 54.0 9 South Pole  <<  Change the 32 52 54.0 to your Latitude SP Only

If you look at the line right above that starts with   what you have is the ALT/AZ for the NCP based on your
local position  the +32.40.39 is my Latitude.  Replace these with your Latitude and save the file. For the South Pole use line 2 and again enter your Latitude.

Installation
You need to create a Object Called CP. To do this do a ALT + P and Click Add type CP for the Name then Click Symbol and draw a + in the middle.  This will be the symbol that appears on screen to denote the CP. Click Ok when done

Go to the DATA menu and Select the IMPORT option. Click Browse and locate the
Celestial Pole.txt file (make sure the object type says 'CP' and that the check box 'HORIZON BASED COORDINATES is check and the 'LOAD TO MEMORY' is checked.  Click 'COMPILE' and answer YES to ADD TO AUTOLOAD DATABASE LIST.

It should now be visible on your Sky map.  If anyone can tell me how to get this to display without have to create the CP object please let me know.

To check look North/South and Zoom in on the CP.  You should now see the + were the CP should be and when doing polar alignments this helps figure things out a bit.

Enjoy
