Well, It finally happened to me, The Little clips
that hold the DEC cable in place broke and now it will not stay put.
Since I have seen many questions about the DEC cable I decided to document
what I see and How I repaired my Cable.
The parts I used to Fix my cable are
2 - RJ45 Plugs
2 - RJ45 Boots
I first started by removing the existing boot with a Xacto knife and
Xcellrate clippers. I removed only the tip at first so I could
identify the color coding easier.
Aftrer Removing the the rest of the old RJ45 and Boot. Cut enough sheath
off to permit the wires to go into the New RJ45.
Slide the New Boot on and arrange the wire's as color coded below for the
'First Cable End'. Slide them into the RJ45 making sure they don't change
position and CRIMP.
Repeat for the 'Second Cable End' and CRIMP. That's all there is to
it
If you need to completely replace the cable with a new one you can
purchase the correct cable at Digikey using Part Number H2882-05C-ND at
$7.52 for the coiled cord at 5ft.
That is the smallest they make unless you special order. If you prefer
a Straight cable order H2882-07-ND at $4.20. They are called
